We have successfully recruited 6 trustee so this round of recruitment is now closed.

Soteria Network is seeking new committed Trustees to join our Board to make a difference through alternative non-coercive approaches to mental health.

We are a network of people in the UK promoting the development of drug-free and minimum medication therapeutic environments for people experiencing extreme emotional states, often labelled as “ psychosis.” Inspired by the Soteria House set up in the 1970s by Lauren Mosher we are part of an international movement of service users, survivors, activists, carers and professionals fighting for more humane, non-coercive mental health services.

Soteria Network believes that diverse voices of people can help drive a positive change. We are actively seeking trustees from all backgrounds, ethnicities and cultures. You’ll play a crucial role in shaping our strategic direction and ensuring our initiatives make a real difference.

We have identified the following gaps in our skills base.

What We’re Looking For:

Lived Experience: People of all ages and backgrounds can hear voices, see visions, have altered states , altered realities and unusual beliefs at some point in their life, for many different reasons. We value the insight that lived experiences bring to our organisation. If you’ve experienced or have a personal connection to the cause, your insight is invaluable.

Diversity Matters: We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures , ages and experiences. including LGBTQ+ identified individuals. Your unique perspective is an asset that can help us better understand and serve our community.

Treasurer to help us run our finances and comply with Charity Commission

Secretarial skills to help run our trustee meetings and update our website

Social Media: We are looking for individuals to promote our social media. If you have skills in digital marketing, content creation, or social media strategy, your expertise will help us reach and engage with a wider audience.

Fundraising and development. Help us fund and develop our events and activities including our membership offer.

How to Apply:

Please let us know why you are interested and what experience you can bring to help Soteria Network. We would like to hear from you either in writing to [email protected] or we can arrange a informal chat.

Deadline 29 February 2024

Interviews to be held 13 March 2024 via Zoom. Please let us know if you need any support or have access needs for this online interview.

For further information about the post please contact Neil Caton at [email protected]. For informal discussion please contact our Trustees Rita Long or Eamonn Flynn.

Join us in making a positive impact on mental health, one step at a time. Together, we can build a more humane kinder alternative for people in distress.
