Soteria Network UK is looking for a new Chair
Are you passionate about transforming mental health care? Do you believe in humane, non-coercive, and drug-free or minimum-medication therapeutic environments? If so, we invite you to apply to become the new Chair of Soteria Network UK.
About Us
Soteria Network UK promotes alternative approaches to supporting individuals experiencing ‘psychosis’ or extreme states. We advocate for drug-free or minimum-medication therapeutic environments, including Soteria Houses, and are part of an international network of service users, survivors, activists, carers, and professionals committed to more humane mental health services. It is an exciting time, as we are partnering with Greater Manchester Mental Health carrying out exciting new research to explore the ‘Soteria’ approach as an alternative to psychiatric inpatient admission. This exciting new study is funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) GMMH research
The Role
As Chair, you will provide strategic leadership, guidance, growth and impact. You will work with our dedicated trustees, members, and partners to further our mission and strengthen our advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:
● Provide leadership to the board and ensure effective governance.
● Represent Soteria Network UK to stakeholders, partners, and the public.
● Support fundraising and networking efforts to expand our reach.
● Champion our vision for non-coercive, person-centred mental health services.
Who We’re Looking For
We seek a dynamic and passionate leader with:
● Experience in mental health, activism, social care, and charity leadership.
● A commitment to our values and mission.
● Strong networking and communication skills.
● The ability to drive strategy and governance in a voluntary organisation.
